Our Dahlias
We grow over 200 dahlia varieties in raised stone beds. Raised beds efficiently heat the soil, leading to earlier and more prolific blooming. Fertile soils are amended with simple 5-10-10 fertilizers and donkey compost. We water daily from a bountiful well, pinch back early shoots, and weed religiously. These practices yield thousands of blossoms each year.

Dahlias thrive in sunlight and low nitrogen fertilizers. Our miniature donkeys, Scruffy and Roxie, provide the perfect compost for these gardens, and are therefore our official mascots. Using their manure enables us to keep a light footprint on our 2-acre farm.
About Us...
Frog Hollow Farm is located at 123 Barre Road in Hubbardston, MA and abuts 23,000 acres of conservation land in the pristine Ware River Watershed. Just under a half an hour’s drive from Worcester or Route 495, our location is easily accessible but rural in feel. We occasionally see moose and deer, otters, porcupines and even bald eagles.
The two-acre farm is also home to Frog Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation, a state-licensed wildlife rehabilitation clinic specializing in the care of orphaned small mammals and turtle hatchlings.
Frog Hollow Farm is aptly named, serenaded spring and summer by wood frogs and peepers, which make their home in the marshy hollow beyond our farm pond.
